Physical Therapy for Injury Treatment, Rehabilitation, Sports Injuries & More

What is Physical Therapy?

Physical Therapy is the art and science of rehabilitation from injuries. Injuries can occur:

  • During sports and other physical activities.
  • From overuse and strain.
  • After surgery and other invasive procedures.
  • As a result of neurological dysfunctions.
  • After an accident or crash.

Physical therapists are licensed primary healthcare professionals who specialize in diagnosing various musculoskeletal conditions. At Diamond Peak Physical Therapy, we specialize in manual therapy and neuromuscular re-education to restore normal tissue and joint function, therefore improving your quality of life.

We use the most up to date therapy techniques, state of the art equipment, and evidence based information to help our patients reach their maximum rehab potential as quickly as possible.

You want to move freely through life, without pain, discomfort, and fear of injury. We can help you do exactly that.

Is Physical Therapy Right for Me?

We want to share a secret with you: Pain during physical activity isn’t normal! Being afraid to move freely isn’t normal either, and if you’re concerned about hurting yourself while doing your favorite things, physical therapy could be the solution to your worries.

What Injuries Does Physical Therapy Treat?

Physical therapy treats a wide variety of conditions, including:

  • Musculoskeletal conditions and movement dysfunctions: Poor posture, difficulty moving freely, and a wide variety of other conditions can be effectively treated with physical therapy.
  • Neck and back pain: From your neck down to your low back (and everything in between), physical therapy can help.
  • Head dysfunctions: TMJ, chronic headaches, and migraines can all be helped through physical therapy.
  • Shoulder, elbow, hand, and wrist pain: Carpal tunnel syndrome and tendonitis are two common concerns that can be helped, along with shoulder injuries and other varieties of pain.
  • Dysfunctional movement patterns: The way you walk, run, and balance impacts how you live. Physical therapy helps correct dysfunctional movement patterns so that you can move through life comfortably.
  • Knee, ankle, and foot pain: Physical therapy can alleviate pain that results from coccyx dysfunctions, knee injuries, ankle sprains, foot issues, and more.
  • Post-surgery rehabilitation: Surgeons often prescribe physical therapy after surgery, and it’s an evidence based way to regain mobility and strength.

After an injury or surgery, it’s natural to feel apprehensive about getting back to normal. You might be intensely aware of the injury, and understandably afraid of re-injuring yourself. A strategic rehabilitation program can help, and your physical therapist will be there to guide you every step of the way.

Physical Therapy for Athletes

Many athletes also incorporate forms of physical therapy into their regular training routines. As you train hard throughout the year, your functional alignment can deteriorate. Overtraining, falls, pulled muscles, strained muscles, and other injuries can all lead to changes in how comfortably you’re able to move.

Physical therapy can help athletes of all varieties enhance athletic performance through an improved mind body connection. Your therapist will identify imbalances, movement patterns, and other areas of concern that can aggravate existing injuries and lead to new injuries if left unchecked.

What Can I Expect in Physical Therapy?

At DPPT we follow a simple approach with our physical therapy services:

  1. Restoration of your body’s ideal natural alignment and normal function of tissues, joints, and structures. This requires a thorough evaluation, which leads to a diagnosis of the problem. In therapy, we’ll use manual techniques and specific exercises to restore joint and tissue mobility while addressing adaptations and dysfunctions.
  2. Stabilization of the muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints. This is accomplished through tre-educating your body on how to move naturally. We use many different methods and exercises to accomplish this, including Pilates, Dry Needling, and other advanced clinical techniques.
  3. Strengthening your muscles in a functional manner. Now that mobility and stability have been achieved, our focus turns to building strength, endurance, and ultimately function. This phase is less hands-on, with more responsibility placed on “homework” to progress the rehabilitation program.

Throughout your therapy, you’ll work one-on-one with a specially trained physical therapist, never in a group therapy class or gym setting. Our small therapy team will work with you during each visit so that your treatment is personal and adjusts to your rate of progress.

Then, it’s up to you to apply your new knowledge (and strength) to daily life!

Why Diamond Peak Physical Therapy?

We’re all about functional physical therapy, which involves finding the source of pain by looking at the body as a whole (not just the parts that hurt.)

If your goal is to restore normal, pain-free movement, this is the approach you need.

The human body is an interconnected system, and an injury in one area can send waves of pain and discomfort throughout the whole body. At Diamond Peak Physical Therapy, our therapists work with you one-on-one to learn how your body had adjusted to injuries. From there, we create the most effective therapy plan for your needs.

We can’t promise to cure your condition in three sessions, because everyone’s healing capacity and injury complexity is different. We can promise to deliver the highest standard of care to all patients via a personalized rehabilitation program.
